Frequently Asked Questions

Who needs to comply with CSRD?

CSRD applies to all large EU companies (250+ employees, EUR 50M+ revenue, or EUR 25M+ total assets), listed SMEs, and non-EU companies with EUR 150M+ EU revenue. Phased rollout started January 2024 for companies already under NFRD, with full applicability by 2026.

What is double materiality and why does it matter?

Double materiality requires companies to assess both how sustainability issues affect their business (financial materiality) and how their business impacts people and the environment (impact materiality). It is the foundation of CSRD reporting and determines which ESRS disclosures are mandatory for your organization.

How does CSRD differ from NFRD?

CSRD significantly expands on NFRD with mandatory reporting standards (ESRS), digital tagging (XBRL), mandatory third-party assurance, double materiality assessments, and a much wider scope covering approximately 50,000 companies compared to NFRD's 11,700.
