arXiv: WarpGuard: Towards Control-Flow Attestation for Heterogeneous CPU-GPU Execution

This publication introduces WarpGuard, a proposed technical framework for control-flow attestation in heterogeneous computing environments where CPUs and GPUs execute code together. Control-flow attestation is a security mechanism that verifies a program has followed its intended execution path, preventing attacks that hijack software behavior. WarpGuard specifically addresses the challenge of extending this verification to GPU workloads, which are increasingly used in AI and high-performance computing but lack robust security attestation methods.

Organizations deploying AI systems, particularly those using GPU-accelerated workloads in regulated sectors such as finance, healthcare, and critical infrastructure, should take note. Any entity subject to AI safety or cybersecurity regulations that relies on heterogeneous CPU-GPU execution for model training or inference may need to consider how to verify the integrity of these hybrid workflows.
